Job Description:
Saab, Inc. is hiring a Lead Process Safety Professional with proven experience in explosives safety, who will be responsible for developing & coordinating the documentation, training, scheduling and oversight needed to meet applicable safety regulations for our new munitions facility in Grayling, MI. Works with Operations, Maintenance and others to identify, manage, and reduce explosives hazards and risks and ensure compliance with required Explosives Safety Management regulations. Oversees the creation of scheduled facility explosives safety inspections. Manages procedures to minimize or eliminate explosives hazards from work processes (e.g., incorrect handling of explosives materials). Oversees investigations into workplace incidents to identify causes and manages recommendations for changes/upgrades to equipment or the facility to protect workers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop the vision, creation, and maintenance of the Explosives Safety Program for the Grayling facility.
- Survey equipment and facilities, identifying potentially unsafe conditions and implementing remedial processes.
- Effectively transform safety policies and regulations into implementation of standards and work procedures delivering an accident-free work environment.
- Drive a culture of continual process improvement through analysis and audit of high-risk areas and implementation and ownership of Key Performance Metrics throughout the operations.
- Lead compliance of State, Federal, and local safety regulations in Saab facility.
- Develop and deliver necessary compliance and educational training material to advance the development of the entire workforce encouraging active participation and feedback from all levels of the organization.
- Lead accident investigations, prepare reports, and brief management on results.
- Deliver a people first culture in alignment to Saab leadership vision.
Compensation Range: $108,000-$137,700
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, or similar field required.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or OSHA 30-hour trained a plus.
- Track record of effectively leading explosives safety programs in the defense industry.
- Subject matter expert on Explosives Safety protocols including OSHA, State and Federal Regulation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team building experience working in an international environment.
- Ability to effectively define problems, collect facts, analyze solutions, drive and lead change.
- Ability to design site operation and storage facilities for ammunition and explosives a plus.
- 8+ years of relevant experience as an Explosives Safety Manager or similar
