Job Description:
Saab is seeking a Vice President and General Manager to lead and grow the company’s Autonomous and Underwater Systems (AUS) division. The successful candidate will be the senior executive responsible for managing Saab’s Autonomous and Underwater Systems offerings including the Maritime UxV and UUV products and services.
Saab operates a global management matrix organization where the local executive has delegated responsibility from the relevant global Business Area for the efficient and effective execution of the local business within the area of responsibility. The candidate will develop and execute Saab’s local Unmanned Systems business strategy in partnership with the relevant global business areas and business units and will manage the profit and loss of local Autonomous and Underwater Systems operations. The AUS VP/GM reports directly to the Saab Inc. CEO.
The ideal candidate has significant organizational leadership experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to strategically manage market and business risks and opportunities as a member of the U.S. corporate leadership team. The ideal candidate will also have significant experience managing and developing highly motivated management teams.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Oversight and execution of Saab’s AUS portfolio, in the US market, utilizing our standard operating procedures, and practices, in accordance with corporate policies and procedures in the U.S. and Sweden, and all supported by the engineering and support functions at Saab in Sweden and the U.S.
Recruit for and lead a team of highly skilled and motivated managers and employees aligned to the Saab Vision, Mission, Values and executing in accordance with the Saab Inc. strategic plan.
Oversee the development and standup of brand new AUS manufacturing and engineering operations including construction, facilitization, and startup, and recruitment.
Lead and structure the management team, and provide the support needed for them to succeed in their roles.
Effectively manage the financial performance of assigned local operations in support of the global Business Area and Business Units, while leveraging the U.S. corporation resources to ensure maximum efficiency.
Establish and manage a culture of operational excellence and accountability across the AUS division.
Develop, implement, and manage Saab’s U.S. Autonomous and Underwater Systems market growth strategy in partnership with corporate organizations in the U.S. and Sweden.
Set clear expectations and establish performance targets for the local team and deliver on set targets
Effectively serve as the senior point of contact and develop and manage senior level internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Develop and manage a culture and program of Health and Safety priority within the facility.
Effectively represent Saab in local political, community, and industrial engagements.
Total Annual Compensation Opportunity: $300,000-$500,000
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline is required. MBA/ Master's degree desirable
20+ years of progressive leadership experience with proven track record of success in leading industry or DoD mid to large functional and/or program organizations.
Prior U.S. Military experience and or a strong, relevant customer network is highly desired.
Prior experience with new start manufacturing operations in an A&D environment
Demonstrated ability to lead and grow business in relevant U.S. Defense markets.

Excellent verbal and written communication and strong leadership skills
Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting
